EVNT Case Study
01 · Project Brief

A platform that makes events discoverable.

EVNT is a UX/UI continuing education project with the goal of designing a modern event discovery platform for Germany. Users can easily find, filter and book tickets for local events of all categories — from festivals and concerts to workshops and club nights.

The core problem with existing platforms: fragmented information, unclear navigation and poor mobile optimisation. EVNT solves this with a clear, high-contrast design, intuitive filter structure and a mobile-first approach.

"Discovering events should feel like scrolling through Instagram — only with real experiences at the end."

02 · My Role

End-to-end ownership — from concept to prototype.

I led and executed this project with full autonomy — as part of my UX/UI continuing education. All strategic, conceptual and visual decisions came from me.

01
UX Research & Analysis
User analysis, persona development, identification of pain points on existing event platforms. Definition of user journey and information architecture.
02
Concept & Information Architecture
Development of page structure, navigation and filter logic. Definition of user flows for discovery, event detail and ticket booking.
03
UI Design & Design System
Design of all screens — desktop and mobile — including colour system, typography, components and animation concept.
04
Figma Prototyping
Full interactive prototype in Figma for desktop and mobile. Including hover states, overlays and consistent navigation flow.
03 · User Research

Who searches for events — and why.

Two core users were identified: the spontaneous explorer who goes with the flow, and the planning family person who needs reliable information.

A
Anna, the curious explorer
28 · Marketing Assistant · City resident
Primary Persona
"I want to know what's happening in the city without searching for ages. Surprise me!"
Spontaneous Curious Social Practical Instagram · TikTok
Needs & Goals
Discover events without lengthy searching
Act on spontaneous plans quickly
Feel at home in her city
Share unforgettable moments
Pain Points
Has to search across many channels
Misses interesting events
Confusing, outdated websites
Complicated ticket purchase processes
04 · Style Guide

Colours, typography and UI components.

The EVNT design system is built on maximum contrast and emotional impact. Deep Navy creates the atmosphere of a real live event. Lemon Yellow achieves a contrast ratio of 14:1 on navy — WCAG AAA compliant — and immediately highlights all CTAs and action points.

Typography: Montserrat Black for display headlines — power and volume like a festival poster. Raleway Light for body text — elegant contrast and readability. Together they reflect the duality of energy and accessibility.

05 · Wireframes

Page structure and content hierarchy.

Starting from the core user flows, I built wireframes for all four key views — Homepage, Events, Ticket/PDP and Mobile — before moving to high fidelity. Each wireframe justified the presence of every element in the user journey.

06 · Design Decisions

Every decision has a reason.

01
Dark Theme — Deep Navy
A dark interface creates the atmosphere of a real live event. It reduces cognitive load while browsing, makes event images shine more brightly and communicates energy and exclusivity — exactly the feeling users seek at events.
02
Lemon Yellow as Accent Colour
Lemon #E8F24A achieves a contrast ratio of 14:1 on Deep Navy — WCAG AAA compliant. It immediately highlights CTAs, category labels and prices. Psychologically, yellow stands for energy and spontaneity — perfectly matching the core target group.
03
Montserrat + Raleway Type Pairing
Montserrat Black for display headlines communicates power and volume — like a festival poster. Raleway Light for body text creates elegant contrast and ensures readability. Together they reflect the duality of energy and accessibility.
04
Mobile First Architecture
Primary persona Anna uses her smartphone intensively for inspiration and spontaneous planning. The design was developed for mobile first and then extended to desktop — not the other way around. Navigation, filters and CTA placement are optimised for touch interaction.
05
Visual Hierarchy through Contrast
Instead of subtle gradations, EVNT uses maximum contrast: dark and light for content, lemon for action points, photos for emotional activation. The user should understand within 3 seconds: "What is happening here" and "How do I get a ticket".
07 · Outcome

A platform that feels like the event itself.

EVNT demonstrates how a consistent design system — from persona to prototype — creates a coherent, energetic user experience that genuinely differentiates itself from existing event platforms.

01
Clear User Navigation
From homepage to booked ticket in under 4 clicks. The filter structure measurably reduces search time.
02
Mobile-First Experience
All screens work just as well on smartphone as on desktop — thumb zones, large CTAs, fast navigation.
03
Consistent Design System
Colours, typography, components and spacing are consistently documented and scalable for new pages and features.
04
Emotional Branding
The dark interface with lemon accent generates the energy of a live event and clearly differentiates EVNT from existing platforms.
